Seto Kaiba is the CEO of Kaiba Corporation. But he was an orphan along with his little brother Mokuba Kaiba. They were in the orphanage until one day, the former President of KaibaCorp, Gozaburo Kaiba came to visit the orphanage. Seto challenged him into a game of chess, knowing that Gozaburo is the Chess World Champion; the deal was that if Seto won, Gozaburo would have adopt Seto and Mokuba. Seto eventually won the game due to his surperior skills, and Gozaburo adopted them. Gozaburo trained Seto like a slave after he and Mokuba was adopted, and Seto hated Gozaburo for it. Through the training, Seto has lost his innocence; he became arrogant, mean, and seems to have a cold heart. But Seto cared deeply for his little brother Mokuba and would risk everything to save him. Seto tends to do things alone and his way; he doesn't want anyone's help.

Seto loves Duel Monsters. He eventually gained control of KaibaCorp and built his way up to the #1 duelist in the world. But he was defeated by an unknown duelist named Yugi Mutou (it was actually Yami). Now Seto's number 1 goal is to defeat Yugi and reclaim the title as the #1 duelist. He controls 3 Blue Eyes White Dragon, one of the most powerful monsters in the whole game!

He is a genius even though he is still in high school. Seto designed the duel disk to replace the over-sized dueling arena; which made Battle City more convenient! Seto does not believe magic or destiny, but little does he know that he is connected to everything for he was the High Priest Seto 3000 years ago! (5000 yrs in the dubbed version)
